Yesterday I went on a date (I can't stand boring interview-style dates!) to this waterfall near Ramsbottom, just outside Manchester. I had never seen a proper waterfall before so I wasn't quite sure what to expect.
Tips for visiting
- Parking
The waterfall itself is accessed from the beautifully named Plunge Lane. A big sign as you approach this lane from the main road says it's a private road, but I'm not 100% sure this is true, and don't know how it can be verified. It's like the residential bits around all the 'London' airports where the residents have put up No Parking signs that don't have any legitimate basis. I suspect the residents just don't like people parking there. However you can park on Dearden Fold nearby. - Wear appropriate footwear
It's very muddy and wet down by the waterfall, and the rocks are very slippery. - It's not a whole day out
It's literally just a waterfall. Very pretty but ultimately not that interesting, to me at least.
